Eunice Girl Dies in Wreck
Funeral services were held in Fort Worth for Emily Jean Palmer a 14 year old Eunice high school band member killed in an automobile accident returning from the El Paso Sun Carnival. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs G A Palmer of Eunice. The car was driven by W H Turner of Eanies and other occupants were only slightly injured in a collision with a truck.

Jal Man Draws Five-Year Term For Pipe Theft
M. B. Thompson of Jal was found guilty of stealing pipe from Skelly Oil Company. The District Court in Lovington, with Judge James B. McGee presiding, sentenced Thompson to five years in the State penitentiary after a trial following an arrest by Deputy Sheriff Elmer Turner last summer.

City Buys Site For Park And Well In Jal
Jal authorities purchased a full city block in West Jal townsite block 14 at the extreme north edge to build a city park. The land was sold by Hubbs and Justis for 49 dollars. A deep hand dug well is under construction on the site to supplement the water supply. Emory Rhodes holds the contract and is progressing quickly. He guarantees a 30 gallon per minute yield and will receive a 100 dollar bonus if a 50 gallon per minute well is achieved.

El Paso Gas Beats Warren Oil in Fast Game
The El Paso Natural Gas Company team from Jal defeated Warren Oil Company from Monument 25 to 21 in a brisk contest. Warren Oil, district Industrial League leader, pressed hard while El Paso displayed fast defense and smart play. Starting for El Paso were H. McCoy at center A. Cohn and G. Addison at forwards P. Kuyker and K. Davis at guards.

The Jal to Texas state line highway will be repaired soon. Rough patches leveled holes filled shoulders cleared regraveled and oiled to prevent erosion and reduce accident risk. W H Taylor injured in a Jal welding shop explosion has been dismissed from a local hospital and is recovering rapidly. Mrs Callie Marshall hosted a forty two party Friday night.

Lots Selected For New Church By Baptist Church
Selection of lots for the new structure to be built by the Baptist Church was announced this week by Rev. W. H. Norris, pastor. The parsonage will be moved one lot south and the church built on the lot now occupied by the parsonage and the next lot north. The lots were donated by the townsite company. Construction type not yet decided, but will not be brick, veneer, native stone, or stucco. Rev. C. Y. Butler has been ill this week after a relapse upon attempting to conduct services.
