The Christmas tree program led by the Jal Civic Club occurs Friday night December 23 at 6 30 on Main Street. Combined church choirs sing hymns and the Jal High School Band performs. After the program gifts are distributed to the children.
Wednesday December 21 marked the last school day before Christmas. A special schedule featured an all school program in the auditorium with the Girls Glee Club and a two part cantata directed by Fred B. Halton and Miss Zanelle Post. The day also included a Christmas story by grade pupils, lunch, a theatre program, and Christmas trees in classrooms before 3:00 pm dismissal. Miss Wanda Bryant, studying in Portales, will spend holidays in Jal with her parents.
Prof J W Pyburn of English and Literature at Jal High School was taken to his Lovington home on Tuesday December 20th due to a stomach disorder. Otto Wink, visiting Jal from Portales, attends college there.
Miss Helen Murry is spending the holidays in Jal and attends T. 8. G W.
Mrs. F. M. Ivey has returned to Jal with her infant son who was in a Temple hospital. The baby is recovering rapidly and greatly improved.
Bernie Ea Bailey, attending college in Portales, is spending the holidays with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bail.
