Spring Term to Close Next Week
Jackson public schools will close for the spring term Friday May 19. A graduating class of twenty two, nine boys and thirteen girls, will have a simple but impressive commencement with Dr. Robert Emory Park delivering the literary address and Superintendent W P Martin awarding diplomas. The 1915 16 session marks one of the most successful periods in city school history with notable progress across departments. Juniors Win Annual Debate Over Seniors At Jackson High
The Jackson high school audience filled the auditorium as the Juniors defeated the Seniors in the annual debate on the topic That the United States Should Make Necessary Preparations for War. Senior William Crum and Harold Ham argued the affirmative while Juniors Hugh Bailey and Harry Moore led the opposition. Judges were J. H. Carmichael C. T. Beauchamp and Jack Dempsey. The tense contest drew wide town interest and a Friday parade of about sixty decorated cars added to the event.

Tax Equalizers Find Plenty of Work to Do
The Butts county Tax Equalizers led by W. D. Curry chair R. A. Woodward Ed Hoard and clerk Joseph Joly are in their second week of work. Hundreds did not file property for taxation and the board has sent out about six hundred notices. Upon completing the digest the tax board will proceed with equalization.
