Jackson Fire Department elects new officers and captains
The Jackson Fire Department held a Friday night meeting last week electing H. W. Turner as president and R. L. Carter as vice president. G. B. Carreker became secretary with W. H. Merritt as treasurer. Captains were chosen for reels one through three: W. H. Boring J. L. Lockhart and J. P. Etheridge. A by law revision committee and a council liaison for a new fire alarm system were appointed. Eighteen members attended and the next meeting is Friday March 24 at 7 30 PM with plans to raise membership toward forty.

Saturday's session approved leasing Ellis property for a county fair running October 24 to 27 with separate days for white and colored citizens. A two year to ten year lease at 150 dollars per year was set, buildings and roads planned, no race track this season, and fund drives organized with Farm Agent Rice assisting.
