Flood Ravages Butts County and Statewide Roads
Heavy rains across Georgia caused extensive damage to farms in Butts County with 7 to 10 inches of rainfall. Crops in lowlands were ruined and corn toppled by winds. The Ocmulgee River rose higher than the dam and water covered up to six to eight feet over it. Bridges failed in South Georgia and the Southern Railway section near Dames Ferry flooded trains. In Macon the river overflow damaged Central City Park and property.
