A Macon dispatch reports Jackson Rifles Company A Second Infantry quarantined due to a measles outbreak. Privates Albert Smith Aubrey C Piper W Durham Thaxton E P James Carl L Holston Arthur M Philips have contracted the disease. They are isolated in a tent and receiving medical care.

Farmers Co-Operative Fire Insurance Meet In Jackson

The annual meeting of the Farmers Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company was held in Jackson on Tuesday. Directors J. M. Ball W. A. Newton J. T. Goodman S. H. Mays J. W. Carmichael J. H. McKibben and D. L. Patrick attended. T. R. Nutt and J. G. Matthews were absent. Over $400 000 in new business was written last year and the average cost to policyholders since organization has been about $3.50 per year. Officers will be elected in 1917. current officers have served three years.

Two Moonshine Stills Raided in Butts County

Representatives from the Internal Revenue Service and Sheriff L. M. Crawford raided two illicit distilleries on Little Sandy Creek near each other. About 1,500 gallons of beer were found at one site and 500 gallons at the other. both outfits were destroyed with no arrests. The raid is described as the largest in Butts County in some time.

Aiken Negro Granted Fourth Trial For Burglary

The Georgia Supreme Court has granted Thomas Aiken a new trial after three prior convictions in Butts Superior Court for burglary. If arraigned at the August term beginning July 21, it will be his fourth trial. Aiken, held in Jackson jail for about four years, was accused of entering a Jackson citizen’s home in 1912. Col. O. M.
