How Amendments Are Adopted in Missouri

The Missouri constitution has seen forty three amendments sent to voters since 1875, with twenty two adopted and twenty one rejected. The average support among both sides was 42.79 percent. An amendment passes by a simple majority of votes cast for or against it, not a majority of all voters. In principle, 700,000 may vote for Supreme Judge while only 500,000 vote on amendments. if 251,000 of those 500,000 support an amendment, it passes.
