Barnum rivals show ends with parade and unsettled payments
A local Friday night dog and pony show by Anderson Brothers failed to draw as expected. A seven act parade with a German band paraded through the public square before a crowd at the show grounds near the courthouse. The troupe left town late Friday, destination unknown.

Jail Breaker Taken At Poplar Bluff
Cleve McIntyre the one legged fugitive, who escaped the Cape Girardeau jail on Sept 16, was captured Friday afternoon at Poplar Bluff by Deputy Sheriff Nance. He faces a wanted post office robbery case at Pocahontas Arkansas on Sept 8 1907 and was previously suspected while jailed in Arkansas for forgery. He will be taken to Little Rock Arkansas near the 1907 robbery site.

Former Cape Citizen Killed by Train at Flat River
Adam Berringer, a former Cape Girardeau county resident, died after a train ran over him at a trestle near the Linois Southern depot at about 2 AM last Wednesday. The engineer saw him on the track but could not stop the heavily loaded train. He lingered over an hour after the crash and leaves a wife and two young children.

Methodists Dedicate Their New Church in Jackson
The Methodist congregation of Jackson celebrated the completion of a $33,000 white Bedford stone church with Gothic art windows and a large auditorium able to seat over 1000, featuring a water powered pipe organ and extensive electric lighting. Dedication sermons by Bishop Denny Collins followed a lengthy service, with debts of about 750 remaining, cleared by a special collection. The project began about three years earlier at South High and First South streets, near Louis Houck property.
