Masonic Meeting Concludes With Williams Conferral

St John s Lodge No 45 F and A M conferred the Master s degree on Rev M S Williams at a Tuesday night called communication. Worshipful Master H M Fletcher presided as Masons from twelve lodges and over the state attended the event. The lectures were praised and St John s Lodge notably active in its new quarters attracts strong material for the craft.

Confederate Veterans Reunion Planned for May in Chattanooga

Chattanooga faces a large turnout as veterans prepare for the Confederate reunion at Jackson Park Camp Stewart. The event, recalling the association’s New Orleans founding led by General John B. C O D Parcel Post Rules After July 1 1913

C O D parcels may be sent by parcel post after July 1 1913 with insured limits up to 100 dollars. Collections incur a fee per money order and may be prepaid by deducting charges from the bill. The tag must show the amount due the sender and the collection fee for remittance. The process ends with a money order issued and mailed as C O D.

New Mercantile Company Organized

Dr R A Franklin announces the opening of his store for general merchandise in the Land and White building this month. The new firm will be R A Franklin and Co with W N Land and J W White of Land and White to be members and active in charge. Franklin will devote most time to the venture. Land and White’s grocery trade has grown since opening. The store is being remodeled for a mammoth stock and strong financial backing.

Mothers' Club Organized for Home and Public School

In Jackson a Mothers' Club is formed with Mrs. R. P. Lasnett as President and Miss Julia Thornton as Secretary and Treasurer, later joined by Miss Laura Smith as Vice President. Meetings will be held Fridays with a subject like The Physical Development of the Child and time for teacher and mother fellowship.
