Georgia to pay 1913 pensions for veterans and widows

Georgia pensioners including Confederate veterans and widows will receive 1913 pensions in late February. The total reaches about 180000, with Effingham county rolls pending. the state will first cover overdue 1912 teachers salaries totaling 1.6 million before pensions. The treasury is expected to hold enough funds to meet teachers’ overdue salaries by late January.

Michigan’s Cold Cash

The Board of Education of Butts county near Batue Creek Michigan plans to borrow from Old National Bank at 10 percent interest to fund teachers salaries. Teachers will be paid around the 10th of each month.
