They Were Sharpers In Town From Chattanooga
Two men posing as visitors from Chattanooga entered J. T. Bailey’s store late at night. They tried a pickpocket scheme, one feigning drunkenness and insulting Bailey’s women, while the other stole $5 and reclaimed $15 before fleeing. Bailey resisted and warned other towns to beware as the robbers roamed. Mr Lampkin relocates to Star Store as cotton business shifts.
