In Flovilla on December 17 1897 the Citizens Committee directed to curb costs on a county court house reports thwarted by the Court House Building Committee which aims for a $30 000 project. They urge a legislative act to create a County Board of Roads and Revenues to prevent excessive taxes and future missteps. Secretary S H Mays and W B Dozier sign.
A Sardis Kentucky resident reports his daughter suffered back and hip pain following fever. After trying multiple remedies with no help she used a bottle of Paine Balm and found relief. A physician recommended Lange's Pao s Pain Balm as a recognized cure available at all druggists.
Fred Waters and associates stole eleven razors plus towels brushes clothes and more from Reeves barber shop on January 2. Waters was captured by the town marshal at Cochran on January 4 and is jailed awaiting trial. All but one razor and most stolen goods were recovered.
A mail carrier pursued after an arrest for concealed weapons escaped at the Mayor’s office and fled into Jackson Covington area. He was found under a bed at J R Sams home and later arrested after a tense confrontation with Officer McMichael near the depot.
Notice to members of the Farmers Union announces the regular annual meeting at the union warehouse at 10 A M on Thursday January 18. All members urged to attend as important business will be discussed. J M McMicuact president.
Master Frank Smith Carmichael who was 10 on the 24th ultimo received a valuable gift. A note states he will receive an attached share of bank stock valued at $140 and that dividends should accumulate until he is 2, then he may decide how to use them. The donors sign as Smith & Eru Heripas.
