The Shamrock line from John S. Brown & Sons Belfast offers pure linen damask fabrics in January specials. Damask Shamrock 68 inches wide at 74 cents per yard, 72 inch satin face at 98 cents to 1.25 dollars per yard, plus matching napkins at corresponding reductions.
Mr. G B Almand acting for his father sealed a deal for the Jackson hotel, transferring the property to Dr Jarrell who gains the entire block except the east room held by J R Wright and John Sams. The hotel will gain a new story and updated fittings to become a leading Jackson hotel. Dr Jarrell’s investment signals continued faith in Jackson brick and mortar.
Ephor Aneus announces Rural Free Delivery in our county requires weatherproof mailboxes near the road for easy depositing and collection. If boxes are not installed promptly, Rural Delivery will be withdrawn. Stark, Worthville, and Fincherville offices will close January 15, 1901. Residents must provide boxes and register with carrier Thomas Cawthon or visit Jackson post office for details.
Dec 27 1900 mass meeting honors Wm M Mallet a noble late citizen. Judge Carry reads resolutions praising his wisdom and devotion. The town laments a permanent loss and urges young men to emulate his magnanimity and loyalty to good causes. O H Cantrell, Sec.
The January meeting of the city public school board elected Chas. C. Smith as secretary. Superintendent Bruce is authorized to hire a elocution teacher if needed and the board plans a $350 cabinet of instruments for practical instruction, aiming to raise Jackson schools to higher levels.
The Georgia Poultry Herald will debut in Jackson on the 25th lnst in magazine form. Editor Mr. Taylor promises first quality poultry focused content with articles from distinguished Southern poultry men. Monthly issues will cost 25 cents yearly and aim for wide circulation in Butt Sox county and beyond.
