With the new year bring changes in county and municipal affairs. An entire shift of officers occurs in the county, except the sheriff treasurer and surveyor. Judge J H Ham assumed the ordinary duties Tuesday morning and began his office.
The new municipal ticket includes Mayor C. O. Beauchamp and council members S. B. Kinard T H Burrill J B Settle J M Leach for two year terms. Public School Trustees F S Etheridge L J Ball J A McMichael H L Daughtry C C Smith F Curry. J R Carmichael carriage repository becomes National Bank Building with vaults and fixtures arriving this week.
The text highlights A H Davis as an experienced clerk stepping into a veteran role. It notes his penmanship and careful handling of papers as factors in voters' support. A new county court is formed with F Z Curry as Judge and C L Redman as solicitor, with offices prepared at the courthouse and the first session set for next Tuesday.
The First National Bank of Jackson announces officers for the new bank with R. F. Maddox as President and J. R. Carmichael as Vice-President and Cashier. Capital stock is set at 30000 dollars, with Carmichael to lead active management.
Since moving to town Mr W M Taylor has bought three tenant houses near his home and is preparing to build a cottage for rent on another Scott property lot. Improvements underway will make this part of the city one of its most attractive districts. Also a Chinaman in Troy was seen a few days ago looking for a launch location.
