On December 21 1893 at Morrison House in Jackson John L Lyons and Cleora Gibbs were wed in the holy bonds by Rev J H Eakee Lyons a Western Union manager and leader in the community Miss Gibbs sister to the late Mrs Morrison is beloved and valued by all The couple left for Cedartown to visit relatives and plan Jackson as their future home
At the home of J. Hl. Ham near Cedar Rock in this county on Sunday December 23 Oscar Turner and Miss Phoebe Ellis were united in marriage by Rev Howard Ham. Aransas extends best wishes for a prosperous life to the couple with junior paws in congratulation.
At Barnesville last night, H M Franklin of Tennille Georgia wed Helen Rogers of Barnesville. Helen, daughter of Mrs L K Rogers of Gordon Institute, has led the music department at Sackson Institute in this city and is well known statewide. Franklin is a successful Southern Georgia merchant. The Jackson Arcus and Jackson Institute extend congratulations and wishes for prosperity and happiness.
The Argus reports the marriage of Jessie Holifield to Laura Duke on December 31, 1893 with J. H. Ham, Esq. officiating and extends congratulations.
The Atlanta Constitu tion reports Miss Leonora Beck declines a northern college presidency to remain president of Capital College. Chicago January 3 The World’s Fair Jury awarded Dr Price’s Cream Baking Powder the highest prize for strength purity and excellence after analysis and recommendations by Dr Wiley chief US Government chemist who deemed competing powders unwheeled.

A Tuesday night Jack Frost party at Mr. Alex Atkinson’s home in the county features hostess Juss and a large guest list including Mr. A F Whitney and Miss Martha Jane Carmichael among others with festive decorations and plentiful refreshments. The Chattanooga Medicine Company won a U S Circuit Court suit in Atlanta to stop use of the name Zhedford on Liver Medicine. Judge Newman dismissed the injunction and taxed the plaintiffs costs. The firm operates a large Chattanooga laboratory near Lookout Mountain with a St Louis branch, and also manufactures Elree’s Wine of Cardus known for its integrity and fair dealing.
Jackson will host a soda water factory later this month to be led by J. W. Francis of Eastman Georgia. Francis inspected Jackson last week and chose the brick building opposite Armand Moon & Co for the plant. He is a musician and brass band leader in Eastman. The Cleveland Hotel hosted a Christmas dinner for invited guests as Col. F. Z. Curry and J. H. Carmichael traveled to Atlanta Sunday night.
