The judge urged the grand jury to indict all participants and punish the mob, noting similar fatal mob acts from Henry and Meriwether counties.

The rupee risen to over sixteen pence amid scarcity, while gold imports stagnate and business distress grows. Merchants, chambers, and bimetallists urge reopening to silver to restore exports and tax capacity. Change seems certain.
