Ismay Fair Review Celebrates Modest Yet Notable Event
The Ismay fair concluded with a successful but small turnout and few entries. Winners included Keith Heigh and Joe Hunt's horse in the half mile, Hugh Hamilton and Chas Hargis in other races, Allen Kentfield and Tom Zook in the 100 yard dash, and Fred Caton repeatedly winning bucking contests. The local team beat Miles City 13 to 3 in a closing ballgame. Musical entertainment by the Ismay Orchestra and Ismay Band earned praise, with assorted premium prizes awarded for farm produce, poultry, crafts, and vegetables. Organizers hope to expand next year’s fair into a bigger, better annual event.
