At a mass convention in Ekalaka on Saturday attendees including R. K. Anderson Ned Eggleston and others decided parties hold separate meetings. Republicans meet October 17 Democrats October 18 for nominating conventions while primaries occur October 11 with one delegate per twenty votes.
At the State Fair Custer County earned first prize $200 for best display of irrigated roots and vegetables. It also captured first on sheaf corn four row barley winter wheat broom corn sweet corn and yellow dent. Seconds and thirds were awarded on multiple crops, marking a record to be proud of.
Young earns first honors for flax at the Custer County fair held in Miles City. Elmer Benton of McGregor Iowa visited the area to look after farm interests. W J Falls and family spent Sunday with H Mitchells as Mrs Mitchell traveled to Wisconsin for her mother’s illness. Henry Harnack bought twelve horses for his sons Elmer and Lester, bringing their total to sixteen.
Nels Varst, traveling from Teedee toward Beach on a cargo of joy water, stopped at C. C. Ayers’ house and forced entry attempts. He broke a screen door but fled when a neighbor arrived. Justice Prindle fined him 100 dollars plus costs after a Saturday guilty plea. Community disgrace noted.
