Renowned baritone Wilbur Starr and his wife Mrs Starr headline a Lyceum show hailed for versatility and original entertainment features. Starr, with past roles in Castle Square Opera and academic leadership, is praised for impersonation skills and broad artistry. Season tickets priced two dollars for adults and one dollar for students.
The Burt School opens this year with its largest enrollment to date and expects attendance around eighty pupils next term. Old seats in the primary room were replaced with modern single seats, walls redecorated, and over one hundred new books added to the library which remains open to all. Primary room attendance averages 92.5 percent with top students listed. Intermediate room attendance 94.8 percent with leading pupils named across grades four to six.
A county meeting led by Prof Stevens and hosted by the Institute drew speakers on rural schools and corn contests. Local 4-H style participants Roxie Hepler Chas Lawrence Robert and Henry George Elmer Wildman plus Hog raising tips from A J Walrath highlighted the program. Yields showed Robt George 40 bu Chas Lawrence 36 bu Henry George 35 bu with 40 bu for top ear exhibits.
