Downey Charities Appeal Opposes Morrell Yields Over $900
Irivington workers in the 1938 find appeal of New York Catholic charities raised over $900, according to Rev Stanis sis J McGovern assistant pastor of the Immaculate Conception church. A meeting of workers reported on the week long drive begun March 20 and ending Saturday. The appeal honored Cardinal Hayes founder of Catholic Charities and marked 20 years since his installation as archbishop. Workers listed include Thomas Gunnar Mrs John Greenan Mary Oster and many others. Mrs George W Bovenizer served on a special committee of integrity in Westchester Count.

Brush fire battles East Irvington estate blaze
East Irvington firefighters were called just after 7 PM to a brush fire on the Shepard estate in East Irvington. Tarrytown crews aided from Forestown, while another team worked on a blaze near the Bing estate north of Shepard. Fire units contained the fire along acres of brush on the Shepard property.
