Dobbs Ferry defeated Irvington 4 to 0 in the first game of the Greenburgh League playoff at Dobbs Ferry. Fred McLoughlin pitched effectively for the winners, holding Irvington to one hit as Dobbs Ferry struck for key moments including a first inning homer by Crawford and a pair of runs in the second. The second game will be at Memorial Park in Irvington tomorrow, with Irvington needing a win to stay alive in the best two of three.
Irvington and Tarrytown officials plan a series of northern Greenburgh softball games at Memorial Park in Irvington. Trustee William A. Murphy directs Irvington and Trustee Wild DIV Livingston manages Tarrytown. First pitch set for 6 20 Monday evening as teams prepare to face each other.

The East Irvington Grammar School will hold commencement exercises in the school auditorium on Mountain Road Monday evening. James E. Duross will be the principal speaker. Adrienne Rouvier will perform a violin solo and William Flynn will play trombone. Mr and Mrs Burnham Bowden bought the Staubach house on Bertha Place and now reside in the Burnham cottage in Elm Park. They plan moving into their new home about the first of August.
Thirty Irvington firefighters toured the 85 family Hudson House in Ardsley Park to study construction and safety features. The visit, guided by Richard Hill, covered the oil heating plant, control valves, fire doors, and rapid isolation systems. The garage ventilation and carbon monoxide exhaust plans were demonstrated for emergency readiness.

Irvington High School prepares for its largest graduating class ever as commencement is set for next Tuesday. The exact number awaits this week’s Regents results, with Raymond Townsend noting the class will likely reach at least forty. Delegates listed include Anna Altamura Frances Hecker and many others. the ceremony shifts to Town Hall for the first time in twenty years, with an 8 o’clock start and a formal procession into the auditorium. The program features Rev George Yodfrey, salutatory by Arthur Connick, principal speaker Dr Lawrence Lange of NYU, and valedictory by Martha Teggs. diplomas and prizes follow, including a Rotary Club citizenship medal and a Sons of Veterans scholastic award, with Rev Thomas Donlon delivering the benediction.
