Arthur Connick wins Gould NYU scholarship. Twelfth Irvington High graduate to receive the award. Plans for graduation exercises set in town hall with the largest class in school history. Diploma reception to follow as the community anticipates the event.
Arthur T Connick son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Connick of Matthlessen Ark named Helen M Gould Scholar at Irvington High School for four year exercises to be held Wednesday. The appointment continues a line since 1902 with the first designee Mauri Mafucel who entered New York University in 1920. Connick, eighteen, has resided in Irvington most of his life and is the latest holder of the prestigious scholarship awarded for four years of study. The graduation season at Irvington includes the grammar school exercises and a large graduating class with plans to accommodate numerous guests at Town Hall events.
Clerics of Westchester County thank the wardens and vestry of St. Barnabas Church for their cooperation as Rev William Neele and Rev Charles preside during services. Rev Colton, traveling from North Carolina to Arizona, prescribes six months rest to aid arthritis recovery, with Rev Lawrence Harness officiating as locum tenens during his absence.
The Yale Sheffield Class of 96 held a reunion at Ardsley Park with golfing and a putting contest followed by dinner at Mr Havemeyers residence. Prizes awarded to regular golfers. Letters read from absentees. Attendees from Hartford and New England traveled by motor or joined in.
Edward S. Jaffray, longtime Irvington resident and prominent local figure, died after a long illness. Born in Irvington sixty five years ago to Robert Sommerville and Emma Marrs Jaffray, he was part of a well known family and served as a village trustee. He worked in concrete floors and sidewalks, helped found Ard ey, and was a longtime member of the Union Club in New York. The Jaffray family had long resided in Ardsley Park, with services held at Hollows Church.
After a lengthy discussion Mayor Matthew J Murtha voted to approve the Ardsley bridge project. The board awarded the contract to Martin A Fallon & Bro for 215 dollars with higher bids from John A Murphy and Henry Ting.
The annual Girl Scout Rally of three Treington troops will be held Sunday afternoon at four o'clock on the grounds of the Irvington Presbyterian Church. Scouts will receive awards and those who are serving are cordially invited to attend.
The notice records a June 18 wedding at the residence of Mrs. John. The bride, identified as Ewa, wore an ugly dress for the ceremony.
The National Recreation Association pleads public support through letters to members and friends. Leaders cite a broad program to promote wholesome recreation and warn of social ills linked to neglect and unadjusted behavior among tens of thousands of inmates.
A high school junior prom is planned with decorations and refreshments. Anni Wertlson, Cath Jenkhisan, Aecorations, and Awnes McConaxil are listed among attendees and organizers.
Irvington trustees met to discuss a reservoir project that faced opposition from locals. State officials advised the plan, but villagers protested, seeking to retain a special privilege at the Town Hall while outsiders are excluded.

The community executive committee will plan an outing for the Scouts and Gube held about the Fourth of duty with charters to be proven.
The village board named Richard Behrens father of Trustee Ernest Behrens to a street post in a surprise move. The board also approved salary boosts for patrolman and a water department supervisor, and authorized a playhouse project on Graves estate site pending legal approval. A legal action by Mary Murphy against trustees Murphy Guert and Liekert was cited with rent and zoning issues noted.
George W. Noventzer Jr of North was charged with reckless driving after his car struck another driven by Avena Chalkley of Clinton. Chalkley was crossing Broadbway on Clinton Avenue when Noventzer’s vehicle hit the rear, injuring Chalkley’s mother Hannah Chalkley and sending her to Dobbery Hospital with two fractured ribs and contusions.
The managers of the Robine Nest announce that the reception planned for Monday June 14 is postponed due to a bereavement in the family of one of the officers.
