Irvington High will hold a commencement in the high school assembly room on Tuesday evening June 23. Tickets are required for admission and will be distributed to students and families. Five tickets will be provided to each student. Non ticket holders will not be admitted.
The Irvington High School exam schedule spans Monday through Thursday. Monday includes History B in the morning and Latin II in the afternoon, with several subjects listed across the week. The plan covers English, Geometry, Trigonometry, Bookkeeping, and foreign language exams, with variations in morning and afternoon sessions.
Carl Senasetoe of New York and Hagen of New York City paid speeding fines after appearances before Judge James J. Lyden in police court. Senasetoe fined eight dollars for driving 58 miles per hour. Hagen fined ten dollars for speeding at 62 mph. Other tied cases were postponed or continued for further action.
Forty servicemen from the Westchester Servicemen's Company will entertain at the Irvington High School building on Main Street around one o'clock. The Paste Club and committee will host the occasion with many local residents assisting. a supper will follow the entertainment, and dancing partners will be arranged for the soldiers. An Eastern Star food sale is scheduled at the Masonic Temple on Saturday afternoon. Corporal Samuel Macken, once Irvington station agent, has been reassigned to the 208th Infantry at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
Robert Patterson Randall son of Mr and Mrs Paul K Randall of Fargo Lane Irvington is connected to the missing tanker Astral which sailed from Aruba for Lisbon late in November and vanished with no trace since. Officials note it may have been attacked by enemy subs. relief agencies and government agencies mobilize as the case unfolds. Also reported, a traffic collision damaged two cars in Ardsley Park with minor injuries.
A severe storm last Sunday night ripped through Ardsley, washing out railways and flooding cellars. Lightning struck transformers in Ardsley Pats and northern Doble Ferry, plunging many homes and dozens of street lights into darkness for hours. About an inch of rain fell in a short period, leaving lingering outages into Monday.
Nemeth Fischer of Tarrytown was elected president of Tevington Local No. 2588 CLO union at the royal meeting on North Tokar Street last Friday night. Other officers named include Nelson, Arthur Fri rere, Casimir Reike, Leo Geath, and James McMurriers. trustees elected were Robert Jr sin Se, Patrils Dense ane Da Pati Te.
A car driven by Raymond Brenner neared a fence at Memorial Park after veering from the road. Passengers Edo Ward Daley Verplanck and Edward Lonergan Camp Dix were treated. Brenner and two others were hospitalized for minor injuries. The vehicle was wrecked and towed to Heaths garage.
A Sunday morning blaze destroyed four autos and a two bay garage at 21 North Buckhout Street, damaging nearby structures. Firemen contained the flames within minutes after discovery at 1 30 am. Four cars owned by Dorothy Henry, Augh McDougate, Frank Vackbarth, and Clishmar Bronlin were badly burned with total damage estimated between 7300 and 6000 dollars. The Tol fire originated in the garage area and may have begun earlier with cans of gasoline found in the shed. Probers noted gasoline storage but found no evidence it caused the blaze.
