Greenburgh Adopts 1939 Town Budget With Tax Reductions
The Greenburgh Town Council approved the 1939 township budget with tax cuts of 69 cents village and 61 cents in unincorporated sections. The levy drops $77,550.81 from the 1938 figure, with village assessment taxes at $1.86 per thousand and $6.0 in unincorporated districts. A zoning change on Central Avenue for Frederick S. Fisher property was approved, and bids were awarded for pole department supplies to Absam Brothers of Tarrytown, Henry F. Smith of Marischal, and Adam Rohrbach of Hastings for various items.

High Mass for Miss Anna Gill in Irvington
A high requiem mass was celebrated Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church for Miss Anna T. Gill longtime member of the Companions of the Forest of America in Irvington and Westchester. Rev. Donlon led the service with Rev. Irwin and Rev. Casey assisting. Interment followed at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery with pallbearers named. The church overflowed with members of Catholic Daughters and the Sunnyside Circle. Gill, born in Irvington, died after a brief illness and is survived by sisters Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Monahan and a niece.
