Irvington Mourns Philanthropist Helen Gould Shepard
Mrs Helen Gould Shepard of Lyndhurst Irvington died at her Roxbury Catskills summer home from an apoplectic stroke after a period in a coma. Born 1868 in York daughter of Jay Gould she spent life at Lyndhurst famed for gardens and floral displays. She funded Helen Gould scholarships in Irvington High School and supported Cuba relief after the Spanish American War.

Irvington Schools Stage Christmas Plays and Carols
The Irvington Schools held holiday programs with carols and plays in the assembly room. Story of the Nativity presented by church school
St Pauls Methodist Church members staged The Story of the Nativity as a candlelight service last Sunday at noon. Junto and senior choirs led a procession with lit candles, singing In the Lonely Midnight as tableau figures moved through Journey to Bethlehem and the Manger scene. A real baby added to the tableau while children entered the manger scene after an invitation by a choir member who sang O Come, Little Children. The service concluded with Mary Dorothy Irwin, Joseph Roy Woyelke, and Ethel Ke presenting parts, and the baby departed amid a light recessional and memorial singing.

Aged woman killed by auto in single vehicle crash
