Police noted no charges were filed as the events were attributed to hazardous road conditions and driver misfortune.
The Coin Box phone rate increase takes effect January 6 marking the first rise since telephones were introduced. The Bell Telephone Company announces a two percent surcharge to cover higher costs, with coins and nickel options adjusted for coin telephone equipment. Calls priced at a dime will remain, while the operator and dial tone procedures change for coin and non coin lines.
An Irvington police car was damaged when struck at Erie Street and a road near Ardsley Park by a vehicle driven by Lyman Richardson. The car skidded after the impact, its right rear damaged, and the police vehicle could move under its own power. No charges were filed. Mrs J W Moore Richardson of Osceola owned the other vehicle. Chief Chart Haber reported repairs were made at Police Headquarters.
Philip Miler, general secretary of the Young Men’s Christian Association of Tarrytown and North Tarrytown, announced the annual meeting will be held on Tuesday voting January 11. Benjamin Sehmaker, secretary of the committee on friendly relations among foreign students, will speak. Sehmaker also serves as government consultant to the UN Economic and Social Council and as secretary of the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers. The committee notes that over 27000 foreign students seek admission to US colleges and universities.
