Court action threat against village on Hudson House sewer

The Interstate Sanitation Commission, in a letter signed by Seth Hess, asks Irvington to explain why its general counsel should not be instructed to begin action to force compliance with rules requiring Hudson House to stop discharging sewage into the Hudson River. The village has pressed Hudson House, Inc. to connect to the interceptor sewer, but Hudson House has refused to cooperate, insisting the village must fund all work. The matter has dragged on for over two years amid negotiations and proposals, including village plans to reroute sewers and septic tanks, all rejected by Hudson House. The commission’s action was discussed by the Irvington Board of Trustees.
