Martinson Wins Sanitary Truck Contract for Village

The village board awarded John Martins on street’s contractor a new sanitation truck bid. The machine will be five forward gears with a ten foot snow plow, designed to improve snow removal this winter. A competing Dodge truck bid by Rusley Club Garage was rejected as not given serious consideration. The International TPO model was discussed but not finalized.

James F Reynolds of East Irvington will seek reelection to the school board at the annual district meeting set for May ath. Wood Rutter of North is a board appointee awaiting decision on candidacy for the three year term begun after Lambert Hyniger resigned. The meeting agenda includes whether Rutter will run and other board matters.

S Forbes Simpson Injured in South Father Dies

S Forbes Simpson suffered critical injuries in the South while his father, a longtime newspaper feature writer, died during the winter. The family had recently moved to Miami Florida seeking a new home after years elsewhere.

Westchester Bar Association Opposes Jane Todd Jury Bill

Westchester County Bar Association voted opposition Friday night to Assemblywoman Jane Todd's bill requiring compulsory jury duty for women. Former State Senator W. W. Westall of White Plains endorsed voluntary service, noting that 90 percent of women do not wish to serve. The association followed its executive committee recommendation and opposed the measure before the Senate.

Federal Players To Stage Benefit Show At Town Hall

The Federal Players, in their initial appearance, will present the thriller Edgar a mystery play at Town Hall on Tuesday night April 21 to aid Camp Irvington. Judge B Wilburn leads the event with proceeds to fund the camp and provide reemployment opportunities, plus guest invitations. Final plans include a municipal dinner and a civic emphasis.

Mrs Goehren Resigns Post On Union Breakfast Hospital Board

The Board of Managers met on Thursday April 9 with Mrs Axtell J Hisles presiding and Mrs Harry J Shaw as secretary. The resignation of Mrs George B Goehren, appointed postmaster of Ardsley, was accepted with regret. Hospital visitors and members of the society and club were noted in attendance. Firemen report 36 alarms in 1935 as Nudson River Juniors and local residents donate for a rummage sale raising funds. The period April 1 to April 6, 1936 saw fires total an estimated $18,000 in damage to a frame structure owner and properties in Dobbs Ferry.

George Hoernle Laid to Rest at St Barnabas Church

George Hoernle father of Mrs Willa Lane, died and was laid to rest at St Barnabas Church on a Wednesday morning after a cruise. Music followed the Easter service with Prelude Grand Choeur and Old Spanish Myles Foster Barnabas Choir directed by Everett Maclachlan. Burial took place in New York City with services at St Barnabas and the early service. The choir performed at the Lenten offering, and the obituary notes his heirs reside in New York City.
