New Streets 10 Opened Regular Monthly Council Meeting
The Ireton city council met Tuesday evening with Mayor Viotho presiding. On A F McKeever’s petition, Fifth Street west end was closed and a north south street east of the McKeever residence opened from Fourth to Fifth. Fourth Street will extend west to the section line. May bills were approved and the annual financial statement for year ending May 31 ordered published. The old tea house behind city hall was sold to Frank Taylor who will tear it down and build on his farm with the material for £60.

Narrow Escape in Storm Strikes Maurice Family Home
The Brouwer family four miles southeast of Maurice narrowly escaped when their house was struck by lightning Friday night. Five members were in one room as the lamp shattered and chimney toppled. bricks struck Brouwer while plastering and a clock were blown through a hole. The house suffered only minor damage and no one was seriously injured. The event occurred around ten o clock.
