Breton City Council Raises Saloon License to 1300 a Year

At Tuesday’s session Mayor Ma rienau and councilors voted to raise Breton saloon licenses from 1000 to 1300 annually effective April 1. Revenues split 1000 to the town and 500 liquor tax to the county. The meeting also discussed windmill water supply and snow removal charges assessed to nearby property owners.

Heinrich Named Cashier at Farmers & Merchants Bank

E. H. Heinrich becomes cashier starting February 7 at the Farmers and Merchants Bank, replacing Juo. H Pryor who returns to the land business with T. H. Pryor. Heinrich will run the bank alone for now, having long service with the bank since its inception in Ireton.

Assessors Salaries Raised in Sioux County

Sioux county board of supervisors boosted assessor pay from 80 to 120 dollars due to census duties. RH A McKee reappointed steward of the poor farm for another year. Judge Gaynor’s illness delayed court with plans to reconvene Friday. Sioux county doctors met at the Betten House with D J Werkman and several others in attendance.

Reading Township Telephone Association Annual Meeting

The Reading Township Telephone Association held its annual meeting in the city hill last Saturday afternoon with DU F Becker presiding and H I Vander Hamm recording. Officers elected include H F Becker president Win Dealy vice president H L Vander Hamim secretary Jno Viotho treasurer and trustees Henry Viotho E R Day and Louis Hean Tich. The group plans to extend line No 3 from H F Baack's place into Struble and consider separate lines for line No 2 due to subscriber growth and potential extensions. The association reports prosperous conditions with stockholders united in advancing the cooperative.

Public Opinion With Them D Montgomery Returns From Des Moines Meeting

D Montgomery reports a Des Moines state convention of the Corn Belt Meat Producers Association with 87 counties represented. He says the association helped shippers by winning a larger minimum car weight and opposing railroad passes for legislators. Delegates heard speeches by Gov Cummins and Ex Gov Van Sant. Roosevelt and La Follette endorsed. goals include continued progress and rail reform.
