Northwest Iowa school enrolls 29 for linemen and office jobs

A total of 29 students enrolled at Northwest Iowa Vocational School as courses began Monday. Eleven started a 48 week lineman training and eighteen began a 12 week office occupations session under instructors Melvin Marcett and Don McDowell with multiple named enrollees from Primghar Archer Hull Le Mars Sheldon and others. Also noted are two Merrill youths charged with illegal liquor under 21 with details and pleas in Sioux City Municipal Court.

Life's end Fred Livermore dies after long illness

Fred Livermore aged 66 of 41 Fifth Ave SE died at Floyd Valley hospital after a five year illness. He was born June 25 1900 in Rariton Sl and worked as a lumber yard manager and trucker before retirement. He married Mary Kieshau er in Elk Point on December 27 1927. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at St John United Church of Christ with burial in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery.

Bennett Zimmerman wed at Elk Point in May ceremony

Alberta Bennett daughter of Louis Bennett of Hinton and Douglas Zimmerman son of Gus Zimmerman of Sioux City were married at Elk Point on May 29. The bride wore a blue suit with corsage, sister Viola Blackmore served as matron of honor in a pink and white suit with corsage. Robert Wanderscheid of Sioux City was best man. A reception followed at the Zimmermans’ home.

IPS rolls out mobile substation in Iowa system

Iowa Public Service Co introduces a rolling substation built on a 4 tractor train. The 5,000 KVA unit on wheels is designed to transform voltages from 69 000 to 2 400 volts. It is the third mobile substation added to the company fleet, enabling relocation to various service areas.

City council delay and plans for Valley Drive paving

Neubrand was told to submit his request in writing while Adler noted adjacent property owners would likely balk at paying the stub stub cost. Neubrand had sought action two weeks ago as city records show the street area was never vacated. He plans to pave Valley drive connecting with the stub this summer. Federal permits arrived for Le Mars sewage plant expansions and bid letting is hoped by July.
