Jerry Bindner returns home from Vietnam

Jerry Bindner arrived back in Marcus June 5 after a year in the central highlands of Vietnam. He served as a gunner on the CH-47 Chinook with the 179th Aviation Co. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bindner. He spent time in Tokyo October 23 to 28 and Kuala Lumpur in April on rest and recuperation leaves. After arriving at Fort Lewis June 1 he received his separation from active duty and plans to resume farming with his father and brothers south of Marcus.

Deeds Transfered to Robert Moore by Kokenge Group

A deed batch shows Robert H. Kokenge and others transferring property to Robert C. Moore for parcel N4 and NW34 00 47 with nominal $1.00 value. The group met Monday with Iowa congressional delegation members and plans a Capitol tour Tuesday visiting the Senate House of Representatives and congressmen offices.

Des Moines DPA reports Park Rinard executive secretary of the League of Iowa Municipalities warns that legislative tax revisions must avoid harming municipalities. The league seeks to defend bond bases, resist relief that shifts burdens to urban residents, and pursue new revenue while protecting existing sources from raids by special interests. The Senate approved a bill assessing property at 27 percent of fair market value, seen as protecting municipal bonding bases.

Iowa Title 1 projects under the Federal act fund education for 94 563 children across public and nonpublic schools during 1966 67. Expenditures total 14 237 650 with leading reading programs 5 893 252 and other major allocations in math language arts nursing and class size reduction. Local districts identify high poverty schools and educationally deprived children then plan targeted services including nonpublic school aid.

Ed Buss Returns From Illinois Trip

Ed Buss returns to his Le Mars home after a two week visit with relatives and friends in Wisconsin and Illinois including Laura McConnell in Darlington Mayne Buss in Mineral Wisconsin and connections in Rockford Belmont Platville Mineral Point Gratiot and nearby towns He also visited the Rev E Fort Dodge and attended country and grade schools before the trip activities ended.
