City and Country Piano Contests Decide by Judges on Saturday
In a lively Saturday contest, ene Parizek and Mabel Solnar win two Kimball pianos from the Citizen, with Helmer taking a buggy. City winner Marie Linder and country winner Miss ary Scheetz each gain a gold watch and a 90 piano certificate as seconds, while Philip Stagg wins a gold watch and a 4&7 piano certificate. Tuesday night totals show 210,794 votes cast, with overall prizes valued at least 1,560 dollars to be issued later. Highest vote getters include Parizek, Solnar, Helmer, Stagg, Berry, Murphy, Hinchcliffe, and Williams.

Little Girl Injured in Washington Street Incident

Moscow Barricade Occupied as Rioters Fight Troops
In St. Petersburg on December 23 revolutionists seized Tverskaia street in Moscow erecting barricades. Troops and Cossacks opened fire as they tried to move prisoners. Eleven workers were killed and eighty wounded in the morning volley. Police prefecture was demolished by bomb-throwers. the prefect escaped.

State of Iowa Against Hughes Trial Opens Next Tuesday
The state’s case against Oliver Hughes will open next Tuesday morning in district court after failed settlement talks. The tardy proceeding requires a jury, and jurors for the term will return to the city Tuesday morning after dismissal yesterday afternoon. Will Frantz Attacked and Robbed Near Hills
Will Frantz a farmer living one mile west of Hills was held up by two men near the Ryerson bridge south of the Iowa river. He was beaten unconscious, robbed of his watch eleven dollars and his lap robe, and left beside the road. He regained consciousness after about an hour and tracked his horse five miles home. Constable Matthes pursued the suspects as neighbors aided the investigation.
