Wells drilling progresses in Oregon oil field

J A Harbke and L W Bates of Portland visit Wells Sprinter Gas and Oil Co. as Free Nicholson begins drilling at Wells ton ranch. The test hole is 225 feet deep with plans to reach 4000 or 5000 feet if needed. Oil traces appear as drilling continues through the week.

Birthday anniversaries celebrated at Sperry ranch dinner

A pleasant dinner was given at the E. G. Sperry ranch home on Sunday to honor the birthday anniversaries of K. G. Sperry and Ms. A K Steffani. Guests included Sir and Mrs. K. G. Perry and two daughters, Mr. avid Mrs. A K Stefani and son, Mrs. Oscar Cochran, George Cochran, Livon Ugiesbyy, Henry Adaind, Mrs. Vwoailer Woohard and Ler two from Arlington.

Personal News: Palmateers Return from Estacada

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Palmateer return home Saturday from Estacada after being summoned by the death of Mrs. Palmateer’s mother, Mrs. John Githens, who died after a paralytic stroke at 14. Sam Warfield travels from Le Croste, Wash., with Mrs. Wart visiting since Feb 20. Walter Cochran of Arlington accompanies Dr. Warfield to La Crosse on business. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brown of Standard Oil are being transferred to Condra, having lived here about a year. J. W. Hawk takes a week off from the depot. A Nelson from Portland acts as station agent. Frank Engelman returns from Portland after medical treatment.

Football Practice Opens as Team Prepares for Next Term

Starting last Wednesday activity periods begin to shape next term's football squad. Practice lasts about two weeks with light work and at most one scrimmage. Most time is spent on handling the bell. Large turnout meets each afternoon and material is satisfactory. Baseball practice will follow after football.

All Class Tryouts Decide School Winners in Declamatory

The school tryouts finish with winners in each division chosen to represent One High School at the district event. The finals will be held in the gym Friday Merchand and no admission fee is charged.

High School Class Meeting Debates Candy Sale at Event

The Freedman class hosted a Friday evening event on March 13 with light refreshments including ice cream and cake. The Junior class held a meeting during activity period to decide whether the Low class would sell candy at the declamatory contest. The decision was to proceed with candy sales.
