ACK QUINN A World Series Spitball Ace at 44
ACK QUINN, the veteran pitcher of the 1929 World Series, remains capable at age 44 and is expected to see action. He is among the few remaining spitball specialists in the majors, delivering a delivery that quickens the ball by a paused motion and saliva moistening. Quinn reportedly controls the pitch well and argues the spitball need not strain the arm if the delivery lacks a snap.
