Roy Brown famed air ace who shot down Baron Von Richthofen disappears with two companions during a 150 mile flight from Baker’s Lake toward Beverley Lake in Northwest Territories. Accompanied by Pilot William Spence and Captain G S Blanchette the trio set out Tuesday to retrace the McAlpine party route near Bathurst. Dominion Explorers report no word of their arrival though flight duration should be under two hours. Blanchette says he traced the McAlpine planes to Baker’s Lake and believes they were forced down within 200 miles of that point. The expedition aims to locate missing men before winter. The route requires crossing the height of land, a remnant mountain range across North America.

Four Convicts Escape From Pendleton Reformatory
A posse of deputy sheriffs and guards hunted highways into Indianapolis for two convicts who fled the Indiana State Reformatory at Pendleton. James Pettie, 19, and Komomo, 19, both serving one to ten years for vehicle taking, broke guard car glass near the quarry two miles from the reform school and escaped unnoticed. One trustie, Garfield Kelly, 23, a Negro, was captured in his wife’s home in Indianapolis. Police pursued the other, a Negro named Johnson, in a neighborhood he once lived, after Johnson allegedly surrendered a car to Kelly. Johnson, from Anderson, faces two to twenty-one years for voluntary manslaughter.
