Rail merger may involve Chesapeake & Ohio and others

The potential consolidation could involve Chesapeake & Ohio Erie Hocking Valley and Pere Marquette. The gift announcement came too late to move stocks Thursday with only 2490 C&O shares traded and the issue closing down three quarters of a point. The minority committee against the Van Swearingen merger traces to 1925 when they opposed the Nickel Plate unification rejected by the ICC. In Kokomo Indiana two births occurred within two hours as Mrs Ben Heinemann and Mrs Ervin Cass each welcomed a daughter.
