A three or more man gang carried out a careful burglary at Pettis Dry Goods Company Thursday night. They bound two watchmen Everett Garrison and James Hughes, blew the safe with nitroglycerin and took about 7000 dollars in cash and checks while attempting to reach the main jewel safe. They left with 60 dollars from a bound guard and a claim that seven gang members planned more, but the large payroll and receipts, totaling over 15000 dollars, were not obtained. Police were alerted by Garrison at 5 a.m. and began investigations.
