Marion O. Rogers, 63, of 35 South Mount Street, was killed instantly when struck by an Interstate Public Service interurban at Stop 8 on Madison Road. Deafness kept him from hearing the whistle as he crossed the tracks after stepping off a bus to meet his son Lester Rogers at a nearby farm. His son arrived just as the car struck, hurling him twenty five feet.
The embezzlement suit against J. F. Wild and officers of the defunct J. F. Wild and Company state bank was dismissed after Judge James A. Detectives questioned a Pettis Dry Goods employee suspected as inside man in a Friday robbery. Burglars tied up staff, looted safes totaling about $6,000 after failing to open the payroll and jewelry safes. Officers found 26 A D T boxes mapped. one box left unopened and a Chicago paper with burglars’ diagram. Total loot revised from initial estimates of 7500 and 7000 to about 6000 with 500 plus dollars missing.
Hogs at Union Stockyards were steady with Fridays low time 25 cents lower than highs. Bulk sales at 160 to 300 pounds averaged about 9 dollars while receipts totaled 600 holdovers 448. Vealers steady around 18.50 with top price 19 dollars. Sheep and lambs steady with ninety four pound westerns at 14.75 and lighter at 15 or more.
Nathan F. Leopold Jr. one of the slayers of Bobby Franks is ill with influenza in the hospital at Stateville prison. Leopold and Richard Loeb are serving life terms for the Franks murder. Leopold's condition is not regarded as serious.
William de Graaf urges a law requiring all parents to tattoo a child with name age and birthplace to prevent unknown soldier graves and aid police. He suggests the tattoo be placed on a discreet body part and would act as a living passport for individuals.

The trial of Lloyd Amos 24 of 617 North Illinois street charged with auto banditry and robbery for the Dec 8 attempted holdup of F W Holt son dry goods store at 1239 Kentucky avenue nears its end in criminal court. Close arguments are finished and a jury verdict is expected tonight. Amos testified he knew nothing of the plans of Herman Armfield and others killed in the attempt and that police beat him to a confession. He described being shot at and escorted by officers to headquarters as a ball of fire and flame blinded him. Prosecutors plan rebuttal to prove he confessed and named revolver numbers used in the crime. Armfield remains under guard amid fears of retaliation and possible later action if the gang does not get him first.
Trading opened quietly on the New York Stock Exchange with gains led by United States Steel up to 160, General Motors to 219, and Chesapeake & Ohio at 2154. Wright Aero rose over two points, while Erie American Can and Standard Oil of New York declined. Packard fell to 148 as the market eyed a record industrial average rebound.
