Tens of thousands packed the streets for a massive parade marking the encampment’s second day. Veterans, bands, and contingents from Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, and beyond filled Market and Meridian streets, with the signal corps and other units facing disputes and delays but the crowd remained roaring.
In a police court on a Tuesday morning the cadi kept Attorney Orton under lock in the prisoner's box to speed proceedings. The docket moved slowly as nearly every case was continued. The session saw shell workers, pickpockets, and thieves among the defendants.

George Burnham former manager of the Burnham cafe is jailed on charges of obtaining money under false pretenses. Backed by Cave and Littler who invested about 20,000 to launch the cafe, they allege he misused 12,000 to 15,000. Two indictments awaited the July grand jury. Sheriff Emmett and Jailer Collin located him at the Denison hotel after a tip he was in the city. He was traveling for a Cincinnati firm and arrived Monday night. He protested arrest but retained attorney Fann Duncan. bail not yet set at 8:58 p.m.
Washington Sept. 5 Members of the house have filed 202 bills with house officials in anticipation of adopting the code of rules. The bills sit on the calendar in order received and many date from previous congresses. They include repealing federal election laws freeing cotton taxes establishing uniform bankruptcy and expanding war claims prosecution. Senator Vorhees in the senate Tuesday offered a resolution for a daily 1 3 p m meeting and said he would call it up Wednesday.
Controller Woollen announced that the 7 30 city bonds due July 1808 will be cashed by the New York Security and Trust Company through Sept 20. Bonds will be taken at par in checks payable through the New York clearing house, settling the defaulted bonds issue and removing political capital for Republicans.
Arthur O Bero was seized by detectives Tuesday morning and jailed as a nick-pocket. He is identified as the smoothest man yet nabbed during the encampment, with authorities urging others to come forward.
Brusseis dispatch says Kercboven's expedition was destroyed after their leader's death. The report claims forty white men lost their lives in the catastrophe, with details sparse and uncertain from the damaged text.

In the forest fire conflagration near Rotte Sia thia city on Sunday night, twenty five spectators aboard a lighter rushed to one side causing it to capsize. Seventeen were drowned as a result.
