Acton druggist Frank Blass pleaded guilty in criminal court to selling liquor to a minor and was fined $29 and costs. Four indictments followed as he seeks leniency amid petitions from Acton residents citing a decent family life and recent liquor returns to Indianapolis.
Police Captain Martin Hyland received a letter from the Board of Public Safety praising his efficient service during his years in the force. The letter notes there has never been a mark or reprimand against him and expresses pleasure in attesting to his good qualities and sturdy worth.
In Rochester on October 29 Hos Dresser fireman and John Chapman yardmaster died during a high speed collision at the Platt street yards of the New York Central railroad. Dresser was pinned to the firebox as steam and debris blocked rescue efforts. Fire crews fought a blaze as wreckage of box cars burned.
