Auto speedster gives up fight for acquittal
Louis Smith, charged with violating the speed law, arrived at police court Thursday morning and paid a $1 fine plus costs on a guilty plea. Motorcycle Policeman Gibney found Smith on North Delaware Street driving a large car at speeds from unknown to 27 miles an hour. Smith, who initially planned to contest the case with his attorney, abandoned the fight in court.
