Taft Exoneration Critique Over Massive Record
Frederick M. Kerby, a Ballinger office stenographer, recounts behind the scenes actions in Taft's exoneration of Ballinger. He describes withheld and misrepresented documents, Ballinger’s 1908 letter, and the Ballinger affair's impact on Taft’s scrutiny amid a lengthy seven day record review. Kerby notes his own duties, loyalty to Ballinger, and the personal stakes of his role.
