The body of William Moore an old soldier and Marion soldiers home inmate was found in the Indianapolis canal near Acme mills on West Washington Street at 6 am Thursday. He had been drinking and is thought to have fallen from a nearby bridge after saying he would not live to be 60. Moore left No. 6 engine house Wednesday night and spoke with firemen. He leaves two daughters Mrs Charles Cuthens and Mrs R Doughty. Remains taken to Hermanns.
Jacob Ruff, a carpenter living at the corner of town and Applesatests, cut his throat and wrist Thursday morning in an apparent suicide attempt. He bled heavily before help arrived, was managed by Drs. Berauer and Freedman, and remained in grave condition with a priest administering extreme unction. He and his family have faced ongoing hardship and despondency amid financial troubles.
Richard C. Herrick resigns as secretary of the Board of Public Safety, effective April 1, after years of service under multiple administrations. Gen Horace Porter the American ambassador misplaced a traveling bag in a Paris cab after returning from the railroad station. The bag contained jewelry valued at 600 francs and no trace of the pieces has been found.
Charles Horne, age 18, died Wednesday at his brother's home at 2010 N Tiliois Street. He worked with Horne and Gas in the agency of New England Mutual Insurance. The burial is set for Bedford, Pua.

The Indiana Supreme Court unanimously rules that waste of natural gas by the Ohio Oil Company is a public nuisance and grants an injunction. The decision, written by Judge McCabe, states gas is state property until possession and orders the circuit court to require the company to answer the complaint and halt waste.
