The new ambulatory around three sides of the Indiana Normal school recreation hall was opened Saturday night. It is 12 feet wide and two feet above the main floor, with arches to the dance floor. The promenade is carpeted and has easy chairs and divans for resting. The hall also features repainting, panel plaques, ceiling lights, and removal of several pillars for improved aesthetics.

McQuown Civil War Veteran Dies at Farm Home
The obituary recalls William McQuown born September 24 1847 in Rayne township who served in Company C P V from 1864 to 1865. Wounded in the Wilderness he later participated in Hatcher's Run and Appomattox and died at his long cherished farm after a lifetime of public service including county commissioner and justice of the peace roles. Surviving are his wife Mary J Shankle and 16 grandchildren, plus brothers W W McQuown and M L McQuown and sister Mrs George Edmiston. Funeral held at his home with G A R escort. Local residents remember his patient nature and steady work.
