A Mystery of Murder Not Solved in Parker House

A narrator recalls staying overnight at Parker's house, then finds Parker murdered next morning with a loaded revolver under his pillow. The narrator is accused based on morning milk deliveries and his late-night presence, while Parker had warned of a troubling story he would not share. The tale ends with the narrator facing arrest as the sole witness to the crime scene.

Life story of a common curious insect

A Central Pennsylvania inquiry to State Zoologist H A Surface identifies a five spotted hawk moth or sphinx moth. The larva known as tobacco hornworm rivals man as a tobacco pest feeding on potato tomato and eggplant. Its long proboscis sips nectar at dusk and its larvae reach two to three inches with diagonal stripes and a curved tail horn. The jug handled chrysalis over winter lies in the ground. Parasites form white cocoons on the backs of larvae to be left alive, and hawk moth antennas house smell and mating sense organs.
