How to keep evaporated fruit from worm infestation
A Pennsylvania housewife asks State Zoologist H A Surface how to prevent dried and evaporated fruits from becoming wormy. The reply recommends heating to about 180 degrees Fahrenheit after drying, then jarning or sealing in tight bags, storing in a warm dry attic, and rechecking after a few days. Heating again later can kill any hatchlings, and pests will not develop inside sealed containers.
