New railroad and coal plant projects advance rapidly
Construction moves ahead on a long awaited Indiana extension with a brick plant to supply 30 600 bricks for mills. Mines will begin operations and a two to three track railway route from Punxsutawney to McKees Mills progresses. Grading for the line to Homer City and Bells Mills is underway with a 700 foot tunnel planned and passenger service anticipated next fall between Indians and the lakes. Land purchases and coal land deals continue, including 100 tracts in Brush valley and 32 tracts near Purchase Line. A rival horse team from Martin Johnston won a Dayton fair premium.

The 15th reunion of the 105th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers will be held here next Wednesday with about 100 members expected. A business meeting at Odd Fellows hall in the afternoon followed by a campfire at the court house at 7:30 p.m. Public invites extended. Hon John P Blair will give welcome, Col Levi P Duff will respond, toastmaster Col O Reese will preside, and many veterans including James Tasner and D W Gobeen will speak on topics from The Guerrilla to Our Guests.
