A Pittsburgh woman lost a pocketbook in Indiana containing papers and a rack. A stranger in Pittsburgh named Mrs B learned of the find via a Progress newspaper and connected it to relatives in Homer City. The pocketbook’s owner and finder were thus brought together, proving a shared bond across miles.

Hallowe'en Masquerade at Elders Ridge Vocational
Students at Elders Ridge Vocational School held a large Hallowe'en masquerade in the gym Friday night. Decorations included jack-o'-lanterns and a student-built wigwam. Indiana's Joyous Halloween Parade Draws Townwide Crowd
Indiana held its second and best Halloween celebration on Friday night with a parade along Philadelphia street. Hundreds of residents, both big and small, wore grotesque and beautiful costumes behind cheering spectators for three blocks. Prizes went to Grace ton for adult clubs and Uncle Ditch Wehrle's Naturalist Club for juvenile honors. Afterward the procession, dancing on the street, and oysters at Uncle Dick Wehrle's party, many attendees visited local homes for further merriment.

Indiana Man Fatally Injured in Altoona Auto Crash
Frank Flickinger, Indiana Military band member and J. B. Lewis marble works employee, was badly injured in a collision on South Thirteenth Street when an autobus was struck by a Pennsylvania freight train at Burns Station. Four others injured. Flickinger suffered skull fracture and severe head wounds, is in Altoona Hospital in critical condition. his employer Mr. Lewis reports Flickinger improving but still critical.

Fire destroys Harrison Spires home at Mechanicsburg
A spark from a chimney caused a fire that completely burned Harrison Spires' dwelling in Mechanicsburg on Wednesday at noon. Neighbors saved some household goods. The loss was estimated at 2000 dollars with 660 dollars insured. Dentist office to be closed for Dr. H. B. Ruffner’s absence on South Seventh Street from November 9 to 20.

A London outlet has received a broadside reproduction from Berlin claiming to show a 16.4 inch shell fired by German siege guns used to bombard Liege Namur Longwy Maubeugy and trench fortresses. The sheet bears the title German War Surprise 1914 and depicts a Liege Turn and a slogan praising God King and Fatherland held by a man for scale.

Drunken brawl leads to shootings and arrests at speakeasy
A wild Saturday night in Iselin and Anji ends with one man shot in the back and others hurt. Victims include Mike Sabo, age 42, struck at close range, while suspects, led by Victorito Poldo and aides Annie and Helen Nicsaent, are jailed. Special Officer Carton aided in detaining Joe and Mike Bosi¢ and Mike Methe. Week of Coal Mine and Roadway Accidents Reported
A sequence of mishaps includes a fatal coal mine incident near Dilltown where Louis George was crushed under moving cars, his head severed. Witnesses saw the tragedy as the crew attempted to sprag cars. Coroner H D Butersbaugh investigated. Also, Mike Barberick died after a layoff injury while returning from a dance. Three Indiana residents were injured in a head on collision on Wayne avenue Grant street involving Mrs Sue McCormick and her daughter Ella McCormick, J Wilse McCartney, and car driver Swartz. All were treated at local hospitals with various fractures and injuries. In Lucerne a boy about ten had his foot severed at the ankle by a moving freight car while attempting to board it, and George Barnes of Armagh fractured a leg and suffered internal injuries when his team ran away on a public road.
