Indiana Hardware fire devastates store and college building
A paint barrel fire in the Indiana Hardware Company store caused heavy damage to stock and the Leech Business College on the second floor. Burned liquid burned Barr severely. the fire spread across adjacent offices but most damage was from smoke and water. Insurance covers losses. adjusters arriving to set amounts. Local crews from Blairsville aided, and initial efforts contained the blaze with damage mainly to the rear of the building.

More than 200 persons attended the annual dance of the Normal School Middle class held in Recreation Hall on Saturday night. Dancing ran from 7 to 11. Prof. and Mrs. William Jack, Don Martin, and Miss Martha Hackman welcomed guests. Class colors were red and black with red embossed programs. Autumn leaves and frost-kissed centerpieces decorated the hall and dining room with red lighting from shaded candellBras. Refreshments were served by junior girls.

Lovejoy Man Died Alone in His Home
Andrew Butterbaugh of Lovejoy was found dead Sunday afternoon by two neighbors after not being seen all morning. Coroner James Hammers declined an inquest. Butterbaugh, about 53, had been in ill health for months. Nearby, a Halloween kitchen shower honored Rey and Mrs. C W Shields at the Strong home near Dixonville with music from Gussie Weaver and Billa Ralston, followed by a long lunch and gifts from guests.

Deaths of Mrs Sara Dales Niel and Mrs Mary Daugherty
Mrs Sara Dales Niel of Clarion died at her home shortly after noon Monday at age 44 years three months. She was born in town, married to W A Niel on January 20 1802, affiliated with the Presbyterian church, and survived by husband and four children Janet James Fred and Sara. Funeral held at her late home with interment at Clarion today. Mr A T Moorhead and several relatives attended from nearby towns. William A Niel, husband of the deceased, was known in the county for his sales work. Mrs Mary Daugherty of Rossiter died Saturday midnight aged unspecified years after ten years of illness. She left husband Michael and children John B Anna McCloskey Ellen McDonald Michael Elisabeth. Interment was at Dushore yesterday.
